The Role

The Director of Budgets and Contracts will oversee our entire trial contracting process. This role will collaborate with local sites, our business development team, and external entities, to land mutually agreeable solutions. The Director will be responsible for conducting negotiations with sponsors to finalize a budget and contract, create justification letters, and ensure KPIs are set and met. This role plays a critical part in setting our sites and trials up for success.  


  • Oversee the entire Budget & Contract process
  • Collaborate with individual sites on their specific trial needs
  • Primary point of contact for the Business Development team on all study contracts and assessments of sponsor feasibility
  • Maintain and update appropriately prepared justification letters to utilize in sponsor negotiation onset notifications
  • Lead sponsor negotiations, landing best contracts for the organization
  • Filter fully negotiated and finalized studies to sites based on best fit
  • Set local budgets arising from finalized contracts
  • Create, implement, and update budget grids
  • Determine site talent for centralized negotiation and contract requirements
  • Advise, track, and report contract and budgets KPIs through Salesforce system
  • Train and reinforce salesforce system use as required for accurate KPI management
  • Assist with special projects as needed



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or equivalent


  • Must have clinical research experience
  • Direct experience negotiating research budgets
  • Demonstrated experience reading contracts
  • Solid understanding of setting budgets and managing KPIs
  • Experience with salesforce system a plus
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and relationship building skills
  • Commercial CTMS proficiency strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
