xSEL Labs, a 7 Mindsets solution, partners with K-12 districts to assess and address social and emotional learning outcomes. xSEL Labs’ core assessment, SELweb, is a direct assessment of the social and emotional competencies found in state standards, evidence-based SEL programs, and the CASEL framework. Our research develops new assessments and evaluates outcomes for internal and external programs.

We are currently looking for a Research Assistant to join xSEL Labs in the Chicago area. In this role, you will join our growing team to assist with planning and executing funded research studies focused on evaluating the efficacy of a new SEL program and designing and field testing a prototype social and emotional assessment platform.

What you'll do...

  • Primary responsibility is to provide research and administrative assistance to the xSEL Labs research team and to help manage the daily operations of a research contract

  • Execute tasks in the research project plan, including following up with research sites, maintaining positive relationship with research and community partners, following up to ensure high survey completion rates, and working closely with the sites to support data collection

  • Help to recruit research participants and help with study design and implementation

  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative data analyses, as needed

  • Collaborate with the tech team to oversee software updates based on research study results


    Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related field

  • Familiarity with research methods in social sciences and/or education

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

  • Problem-solving and analytical capability

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with R and/or SPSS is preferred but not required

    Work from Home opportunity however role MUST be located in Chicago, IL area due to the close nature of research with colleagues.
