Position Description
Modern Family Law, a boutique law firm which specializes in Family Law, is looking for a compassionate, innovative, and respected Facilities and Operations Manager to work with our dynamic and dedicated Business Operations team. We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to oversee the management and expansion of our company’s facilities. The role will be responsible for driving the identification of new locations for business growth, managing real estate transactions, negotiating leases, and ensuring the successful construction or renovation of office spaces. The ideal candidate will also oversee the day to day operations of existing company facilities, ensuring that they meet operations needs and are maintained efficiently.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent in this position would be expected to do the following:
Business expansion and real estate strategy
- Help identify and assess potential new locations for business expansion based on company growth objectives.
- Collaborate with executive team to execute real estate strategies that align with the company’s goals, mission and vision.
- Lead efforts in securing new office spaces and facilities through effective negotiation.
- Manage the negotiation, execution and renewal of leases for new and existing locations.
- Ensure compliance with lease terms, including rent payments, maintenance and obligations with property management.
- Manage all aspects of tenant improvement or construction in coordination with landlords, architects, general contractors, et al
- Develop and maintain a project plan for each location
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Facility Operations and maintenance
- Manage existing company facilities ensuring that they are properly maintained.
- Coordinate all aspects of facility management including furniture and appliance purchasing and delivery, vendor relations, maintenance, repairs, et al
- Ensure that all facilities comply with local, state or federal regulations including safety, environment and building codes.
- Maintain and renew insurance requirements for all locations.
- Maintain records of all facilities-related documents including lease agreements, insurances, contracts, et al.
- Will be the primary emergency contact for all locations.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with the IT, Marketing, Finance, HR and other departments to ensure smooth transitions for new office openings, expansions or relocations.
- Develop, maintain and adhere to a new location budget.
Position Requirements
- As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the capability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours.
- 5+ years’ experience in business expansion, real estate and or facilities management
- Bachelor’s degree in related field desired
- Strong knowledge of commercial real estate, lease negotiations and facilities operations.
- Experience managing multiple locations in a remote capacity.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors and service providers.
- Strong budget management experience with the ability to track, forecast and report on expenses.
- Ability to travel to various locations as needed.
- High level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe; and Zoom Conferencing Technology.
- Those who speak foreign languages (e.g. Spanish, Japanese, Cantonese, Tagalog) are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Flexibility and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands
- Position periodically requires off-site work at a war room or the courthouse when the case goes to trial
- Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- Able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while typing, using a mouse, and looking at a computer screen.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing using a telephone, text messaging, or emails.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend over, and lift items from the ground exceeding 10lbs to a height from between one’s waist to eye level.

Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 annually. The range presented is a reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, internal and external pay equity, and other job related factors as permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for health insurance with an optional Flexible Spending Account or a Health Savings Account, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, 401(k) Retirement, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program to support the personal wellness needs of our employees.
