Modern Family Law, a renowned law firm specializing in Family Law, is looking for a driven, compassionate, and experienced Managing Attorney to join our talented team in The Bay Area. We are seeking a Managing Attorney to oversee the day-to-day operations of one of our Bay Area offices while handling diverse family law cases and making a meaningful impact on our clients' lives. This position is critical in ensuring the productivity and profitability of the office by balancing legal expertise, team mentorship, and operational management. To be successful in this role, the incumbent in this position would be expected to do the following:

  • Manage day-to-day operations, productivity, and profitability of one of our Bay Area offices, including work product and billable hours goals.
  • Mentor and develop the team through education, motivation, and one-on-one counseling, leading in a professional and positive manner.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruiting attorneys and assist in hiring paralegals; collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Meet as needed with other Managing Attorneys and department leaders to ensure the local team receives necessary support from respective departments.
  • Perform initial client consultations to retain new clients and advise them on family law matters.
  • Prepare and present cases to judicial officers and represent clients in court and other case-related proceedings.
  • Draft legal documents, negotiate settlements, and confer with colleagues with expertise in relevant legal issues to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

 

Position Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active admission in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on family law and demonstrated experience in leading a team.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor and develop team members while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Legal Expertise: Strong knowledge of family law matters, with experience in client consultations, case preparation, and representation in court.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail in legal documentation and case management.
  • Multitasking Ability: Capacity to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining high-quality work.

Compensation: $250,000 annually + commission structure. The range presented is a reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, internal and external pay equity, and other job related factors as permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for health insurance with an optional Flexible Spending Account or a Health Savings Account, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, 401(k) Retirement, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program to support the personal wellness needs of our employees.
