Job Title: Senior Actuary
Location: Remote, preference for Northeast or Chicago areas
The Senior Actuary reports to the Chief Risk Officer and works closely with the entire Bishop Street C-Suite and Operating Companies to support Pricing, Profitability, Aggregation Management, and Portfolio Steering at Bishop Street. They are responsible for building and delivering insights for Bishop Street, Bishop Street Operating Companies, and capacity partners, helping them execute against company goals.

The Senior Actuary is a critical role at Bishop Street and an extraordinary opportunity to provide strategic guidance, drive business performance, and support decision-making to fuel our company’s growth trajectory. This individual will support a diverse portfolio across commercial, specialty, and personal lines of business both in the US and abroad.
Key requirements of the position include pricing and profitability analysis, rate and loss monitoring, pricing model development, portfolio segmentation analysis, large account pricing, and aggregation monitoring. This individual will also help enhance Bishop Street’s data and analytics capabilities to better understand, quantify, and manage risks.
Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the C-Suite and Operating Company leaders to proactively identify opportunities for profitable growth and drive portfolio strategy.

Engage with capacity partner actuaries and underwriters to align views on profitability and portfolio insights.

Develop frameworks to monitor rate, loss emergence, portfolio mix, and aggregation on a continuous basis across a diverse range of products.

Support the enhancement of Bishop Street’s data infrastructure to better align with actuarial analysis and company goals.

Build, maintain, and scale pricing models to support existing and new products, and partner with underwriters to support model implementation and use.

Lead portfolio segmentation analyses to identify drivers of loss experience, develop rate/retention targets, and implement portfolio strategies to manage profitability across all UW cycles.

Assist Operating Company leadership and underwriters with pricing large accounts.

Develop tools to support aggregation management across property and casualty lines.

Ensure actuarial best practices are implemented across all projects by staying current on industry trends, tools, and techniques.

Minimum bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics/statistics, economics, finance or relevant field.

ACAS/FCAS designation

7-10+ years of actuarial experience with a strong focus on pricing in commercial and specialty lines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong technical, data, and analytical skills with attention to detail

Experience working at or with MGAs preferred but not required
