Job Description: 

Are you driven to bring awareness to celiac disease and help solve the critical issues that impact the health of those affected? The Development Manager will play an important role in advancing the Celiac Disease Foundation’s vision of promoting awareness, education, and donor engagement initiatives, and will collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and implement the Foundation’s annual strategic plan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive annual development strategy that advances the Foundation’s mission, with an emphasis on revenue growth, donor retention, and expanding our base of major donors, corporate partners, and peer-to-peer fundraisers.  
  • Lead the development and execution of fundraising campaigns and related projects, managing timelines and deliverables for special events and campaigns in coordination with the Director of Development; including writing donor appeals, funding proposals, promotional materials, and other communications to support both broad campaign efforts and more targeted donor engagement efforts including our donor tier program and major gift fundraising.  
  • Oversee and fulfill all corporate sponsorship commitments, ensuring timely delivery of promised benefits and maintaining positive relationships with sponsors. Conduct regular reporting and analysis for sponsors, as needed, to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Manage and grow Team Gluten-Free, including our charity marathon teams and DIY (do-it-yourself) fundraising program, by developing and implementing strategic peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, including providing high-touch support to event participants, overseeing event logistics and communications, creating promotional and stewardship materials, and collaborating across departments to ensure participant retention, revenue growth, and alignment with overall fundraising goals.
  • Manage the Foundation’s major donor tier program – including coordinating events and webinars for top-tier donors and identifying appropriate contacts for personalized follow-up in collaboration with the Development team.
  • Support individual giving initiatives by analyzing donor data to identify high-value prospects for personalized cultivation, managing weekly reports and CRM records, fielding inquiries, and coordinating with the Development team to ensure timely and strategic follow-up.
  • Lead planning, communications, and logistics for fundraising events – working in collaboration with the Director of Development to ensure alignment with campaign goals and deliver a high-value experience for donors and partners.
  • Develop, edit, and design campaign content, forms, landing pages, and donation pages, under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Development.
  • Monitor fundraising campaigns, tracking performance metrics, and providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a key liaison with the Communications team on social media and newsletter deliverables to ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with campaign objectives.
  • Stay apprised of supporter interests through regular review of celiac disease and gluten-free diet news and digital content. 
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in development or related roles, ideally in a fast-paced environment where flexibility and resourcefulness are key.
  • Demonstrated passion for nonprofit advocacy and commitment to the Celiac Disease Foundation’s mission.
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create compelling fundraising and promotional content.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with non-profit CRM systems (e.g. Salsa, DonorSearch), and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally with staff and diverse stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, and corporate partners.
  • Solutions-oriented self-starter with a hands-on approach and strong ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Comfortable wearing multiple hats and committed to delivering results through initiative and collaboration.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. 
  • Ability to represent the Celiac Disease Foundation in a mature and professional manner. 
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies, including corporate sponsorships, peer-to-peer campaigns, individual giving, special events, and community engagement initiatives.
