SUMMARY

The Housekeeper cleans and sanitizes rooms for existing residents and prepares rooms for new residents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs housekeeping, laundry, janitorial tasks and minor repairs as assigned
  • Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks
  • Familiarizes self with cleaning schedules of residents
  • Logs janitorial and repair requests and ensures their completion
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor
  • Changes linens weekly or as needed
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • Empties wastebaskets
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies as needed
  • Replaces light bulbs as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or zero to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR certification preferred
  • AED certification preferred
  • Ability to multitask

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
