Job Title: Activity Director

Department: Administration

Reports To: Executive Director

SUMMARY

The Activity Director interacts with facility residents directing and encouraging group activities for all residents.  The position is responsible for the planning, scheduling and conducting all resident activities for the purpose of enhancing the health and social well-being of residents.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide communication with residents and family members

  • Create an atmosphere of hospitality

  • Plan, schedule and conduct lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual and social and spiritual opportunities for residents

  • Introduce new residents to the Activity Program and assess resident’s ability for participation

  • Create and maintain budget for supplies, entertainment, contracted services and special events

  • Oversee departmental staff operations including volunteers, business planning and budget development

  • Ensure services are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements

  • Oversee, plan and direct the therapeutic recreation program

  • Oversee inventory, order processing and distribution of products and services

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance

  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or zero to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to multi-task


Communication Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization


Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry


Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations


Computer Skills: 

  • Microsoft Office Suite
