Who We Are

BlackThorn Therapeutics is a neurobehavioral health company developing targeted therapeutics, informed by a deep understanding of brain and behavior relationships, to significantly improve patient outcomes. The company has pioneered a proprietary computational psychiatry platform, which leverages bioinformatics, neuroinformatics and artificial intelligence technologies, with the goal of determining a patient's distinct neuroprint to inform the proper on-target treatment option for biologically defined patient subtypes. BlackThorn Therapeutics has completed a Phase 1 trial of BTRX-335140, a selective kappa opioid receptor antagonist, and is conducting IND-enabling studies for BTRX-323511, a selective vasopressin 1a receptor antagonist. The company also has a drug discovery program directed at novel therapeutic targets for neurobehavioral disorders. 


The Position

Help us create the next-gen AI technologies to make better decisions in end-to-end drug development, clinical trials, and deployment lifecycle. A successful candidate will prototype, productize, and validate new applications while making sure that they can be deployed for broader use across the company. You will work with scientists, data scientists, and clinical researchers to implement solutions to support our data-driven approaches to improving the lives of people with neurobehavioral disorders. At the same time, you will be rolling up your sleeves working on tactical tasks that will keep your coding and troubleshooting skills sharp. We value proactive thinkers and doers who identify opportunities for technology innovation in digital health. 


Who You Are

You have solid hands-on expertise in programming, code review, and visualization. You have demonstrated experience writing good quality production-ready software and deploying the software in real-world scenarios. You have hands-on experience with Python (and beyond), Docker containers, and you are interested in picking up new skillsets such as using machine learning packages (e.g., scikit-learn and pandas). Prior experience with specialized areas such as computer vision, natural language processing, convex optimization, and nonparametric statistics is a plus. Experience bringing machine learning (or computer vision) projects to industrial production is a significant plus. Your excellent communication skills help you explain complex models and solutions to non-technical peers. You have demonstrated good communication skills as evidenced by a record of publications and talks. Some exposure to front-end frameworks, such as Flask or Angular, or cloud-computing frameworks, such as Kubernetes and Spark, is desirable.
