BlackThorn Therapeutics is a neurobehavioral health company developing targeted therapeutics, informed by a deep understanding of brain and behavior relationships, to significantly improve patient outcomes. The company has pioneered a proprietary computational psychiatry platform, which leverages bioinformatics, neuroinformatics and artificial intelligence technologies, with the goal of determining a patient's distinct neuroprint to inform the proper on-target treatment option for biologically defined patient subtypes. BlackThorn Therapeutics has completed a Phase 1 trial of BTRX-335140, a selective kappa opioid receptor antagonist, and is conducting IND-enabling studies for BTRX-323511, a selective vasopressin 1a receptor antagonist. The company also has a drug discovery program directed at novel therapeutic targets for neurobehavioral disorders.
The Position
We are seeking an accomplished neuroscientist with a record of achievement in drug discovery to join our research team. The individual will work on complex and exciting projects within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians and will be responsible for contributing to the scientific strategy to advance small molecule modulators for CNS disorders. To thrive in the role the individual will have strong insight into the multifaceted nature of neuroscience drug discovery and will utilize a broad range of approaches to evaluate target biology.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the strategic design and execution of in vitro / in vivo pharmacodynamic studies for target engagement
- Data analysis, planning and presentation of results to project teams and senior management
- Establish and manage collaborations and studies with external partners
- Participate in the nomination, review and selection of novel projects
- Aid in advancing biological characterization of early programs with a focus on translation and biomarker development
- Participate in IND preparation including report writing and review
- Present data at scientific conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals as applicable

Requirements:
- PhD in Neuroscience / Neurobiology
- >5 years of experience working in a biotech / pharmaceutical industrial setting
- Experience working with and/or managing high-functioning individuals and teams
- Strong problem-solver who adapts, thrives and leads in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentation at scientific conferences
- Highly effective interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment
