Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate with a passion for interrogating novel biological questions. The candidate should have a broad understanding of immunology and cellular biology and must have a capability to dig into literature to understand relevant biology and identify appropriate studies and experiments to efficiently validate/invalidate hypotheses to support discovery and target validation efforts. The successful candidate will report to a Senior Scientist and work closely with members of the Research and Translational teams, drawing upon a wealth of knowledge and experience with an established and successful team to help drive a discovery engine. The candidate is expected to have a strong aptitude for assay development, experimental design and execution. Experience in drug discovery, development, and/or translational research in the biotechnology /pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred but not required.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in advancing ideas into full-fledged programs and contribute to the advancement of current research programs into first-in-human clinical trials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work independently to execute and troubleshoot in vitro and ex vivo assays to assess target validation and study the pharmacology of candidate molecules and generate high quality data that provide interpretable results
- Analyze, review, interpret, and communicate data and findings to the research organization to enable program go/no-go decisions
- Collaborate with Research and Translational groups to take advantage of internal knowledge and resources to contribute to the development of an effective and efficient experimental plan
Skills & Abilities
- Technical proficiency in various cellular and immunological based assays, immunophenotyping using multicolor flow cytometry.
- Proficiency in cell culture, microscopy, ELISA, lymphocyte and myeloid cell activation assays
- Experience with Luminex/MSD, Octet highly preferred.
- Proficiency in reading literature, and a proven track record of identifying pertinent and feasible experiments to learn and adapt/apply to the question at hand
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently and with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong communication skills with an ability to organize and communicate complex data sets in a clear and concise manner
Education & Professional Experience
BS in biology with 6+ years of laboratory research experience (industry experience preferred) in the field of immunology, autoimmune diseases, cellular biology or a related discipline, or a M.S. with 3+ years experience in academia, biotechnology/pharmaceutical company, in a biology or drug discovery group.
Salary Range:
The hiring salary range for candidates residing in California for this position is $88,000 to 110,000 per annum. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation geographic location, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for bonus, benefits, and participation in Company’s equity plan.
