Reports To: Head of Operations

 

Position Summary

The Warehouse Lead handles daily warehouse operations while providing hands-on leadership to the warehouse team. This role ensures smooth, accurate, and efficient execution of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse workflow. The Warehouse Lead serves as the primary point of coordination for internal stakeholders—including Customer Service, Production, Purchasing, Technical Support, and Sales—and helps maintain a safe, organized, and high-performing warehouse environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Operational Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, train, and mentor warehouse operators; provide instruction on processes, safety requirements, and equipment usage.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor workflow, and ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational questions or issues within the warehouse.
  • Support and reinforce company processes, ensuring adherence to policies, quality standards, and safety practices.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements with support from the Head of Operations.

 

Shipping & Receiving

  • Oversee and participate in shipping and receiving functions for small parcel, LTL, TL, LCL, and FCL freight.
  • Ensure accuracy of all incoming and outgoing shipments and supporting documentation.
  • Resolve shipment discrepancies and escalate issues when needed.
  • Coordinate with carriers regarding pickups, scheduling, and special requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of transactions into the ERP system and carrier systems.

 

Inventory & Documentation

  • Support cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and resolution of count discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate routing, labeling, and documentation of materials.
  • Verify product identification, quantities, and storage location accuracy.

 

Communication & Customer Service

  • Communicate proactively with internal departments regarding order status, material availability, and shipment requirements.
  • Answer inquiries regarding weights, dimensions, transit times, and shipping methods.
  • Provide feedback to management on team performance, operational bottlenecks, and resource needs.

 

Workplace Organization & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
  • Help ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety guidelines.
  • Support equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and reporting of unsafe conditions.

 

Qualifications

  • 4 years of warehouse experience required; previous lead or coordinator experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and carrier shipping platforms.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coach others.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow in a fast-paced environment.

 

Work Environment 
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Use of pallet jacks; use of sit-down  

and stand-up forklifts.
