Leading Freight Forwarder / NVOCC/ Customs House Broker, with locations in 22 countries and over 2500 employees strong, is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Ocean Export Manager in its Houston, TX office.

This position is primarily responsible for managing export transactions in the Sea Freight Business Unit, including all related activities for an assigned base of accounts. This position is also responsible for setting priorities for the team, expediting transactions and tasks to meet customer expectations and government requirements, and monitoring the quality of service including documents produced by the team by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Manages and monitors the work load of each Ocean Export Team members to ensure accuracy, and balance tasks among staff. 

·         Monitors the team’s performance and identifies transactions and tasks that require special handling or expediting.

·         Establishes work flow processes, reviews and revises these as needed in accordance with customer needs, Company standards and ISO policies /assigns work to staff.

·         Prepares budget with detailed documentation for the  Ocean Import Product, according to instructions issued by Senior Management.

·         Responsible for product operational and sales activities as assigned by Sea Freight General Manager

·         Ensures the timeliness of Billing, File Closing, Document Turnover and Booking as well as Monthly Reporting for Senior Management.

·         Ensures Company compliance of, all applicable local and international laws, regulations, and legal obligations.

·         Ensures that the staff is properly trained and handles shipments in compliance with AES and FMC regulations. 

·         Oversees, trains and advises team members and clients in areas of export administration regulations, consular regulations, other government agency regulations, billing system, accounting procedures and export services.

·         Reviews and audits work

·         Negotiates rates with providers, i.e. truckers, warehouses, carriers.

·         Responds to rate requests received from clients and overseas offices/ agents.

·         Plans and prepares for periodic business reviews with clients, accompanies sales and management on sales calls as required.

·         Performs / supervises timely closing/billing (invoice release) & accountability for profit of all shipments assigned including those assigned to the Managers direct reports.

·         Responsibilities include participating in the interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work processes; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

         Have a minimum of 5-10 years of industry experience with a focus on Ocean Export Freight Forwarding

         Have a minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience

         Have a solid understanding and advanced knowledge of EAR, AES, FMC regulations as well as knowledge of all other government agency regulations governing Ocean Export shipments

         Possess knowledge of Incoterms, ISO 9001 procedures and hazardous materials regulations

         Possess exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to work independently, multi-task, be a team player and work in a fast paced environment

         Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

         Have strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
