PAY RATE: $20 per hour, up to 20 hours per week

*May have the option to extend through the Fall Semester


PPTV is temporarily expanding our organizing team and is hiring a part-time Youth Organizer in Dallas for the summer of 2022. 


The Youth Organizer is responsible for carrying out Planned Parenthood Texas Votes’ mission and advocacy objectives by engaging new and existing supporters in the fight for reproductive health in Texas. This includes developing volunteer leaders and advocates, building and attending campus and community events, and executing effective issue and voter education campaigns.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, train, and activate volunteers to support Planned Parenthood and access to reproductive healthcare by engaging in issue advocacy.

  • Organize and execute field tactics such as campus campaigns, community events (virtual and in-person), and leadership development trainings.

  • Maintain all data in the Voter Activation Network (VAN), including new supporter sign ups and events.

  • Build meaningful relationships and community partners and with youth-based organizations to further reproductive rights and justice initiatives.

  • Additional duties, as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

  • Any combination of at least (1) year of work experience and/or college-level education, or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. 

  • Some experience directly related to reproductive rights, public policy, politics, community organizing, movement building, and/ or volunteer management is preferred.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, and work collaboratively, with Planned Parenthood supporters and volunteers, PPTV and affiliate staff, as well as external partners and consultants.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline driven team environment . 

  • Working knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, VAN and other technical and political organizing tools.

  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

  • Licensed driver with access to a reliable, insured vehicle.

Training

As a Youth Organizer, you will participate in regional, state, and national trainings run by experienced Planned Parenthood staff.  All Youth Organizers are required to attend and recruit young leaders for various trainings and events that will be held throughout the year. Additional training will supplement the valuable skills and experience you gain on your campus and/ or in your community.
