Position Summary: FarmOp Capital is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Credit Analyst to join our dynamic team in the Saint Paul/Minneapolis area. This mid-level position is a critical contributor to our lending operations, providing comprehensive credit analysis, managing complex loan portfolios, and ensuring compliance with internal policies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment but also excel when working independently. They must be comfortable interacting with all levels of staff, from executive leadership to administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lending Process Management: Oversee the lending process from loan origination to approval and servicing, ensuring strict adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Credit Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of new and existing applicants to assess creditworthiness, develop financial profiles, and investigate credit histories.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform cash flow and balance sheet analysis to determine the degree of risk in extending credit, especially for applicants with complex financial structures.
  • Credit Presentation: Develop and present detailed credit analysis reports and provide loan approval and structure recommendations to the management team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to streamline and enhance lending operations.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Regularly monitor the performance of the loan portfolio, identifying potential risks and opportunities for optimization.
  • Industry Insight: Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and developments in the agricultural sector, offering strategic recommendations to maintain and enhance our competitive edge.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in the development and refinement of processes, procedures, and policies to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution preferred; an agricultural background is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in agricultural lending or credit analysis, with a strong record of managing complex loan portfolios.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of agricultural production practices, commodity markets, and rural development programs.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess credit risk and the financial viability of agricultural operations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with colleagues and clients.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized and efficient, capable of working under pressure in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in financial analysis software and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment to teamwork and professional development.
