Job Summary

The Loan Accounting and Asset Management Analyst plays a critical role in the customer experience and operational integrity of FarmOp Capital. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position manages the full lifecycle of loan funds—from initial disbursement through final collection. Beyond day-to-day transaction processing, this role is a key driver of asset management, ensuring loan data integrity and supporting the seamless transition of assets to investors. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to scaling processes and optimizing the systems that power our agricultural lending portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

Transaction & Loan Accounting

  • Full-Cycle Cash Management: Processes AP and AR for all originated loans, processing disbursements (checks, ACH, and wires) in alignment with approved operating budgets.
  • Payment Application: Accurately apply loan proceeds from grain sales, hedging, insurance claims, and government subsidies in accordance with company policies.
  • Reconciliation & Closing: Reconcile bank statements with loan activity and support month-end closing, including the preparation of performance and investor reporting.
  • Account Resolution: Research and resolve routine internal and external inquiries regarding account status and discrepancies, providing superior customer service throughout the process.

Asset Management & Servicing

  • Data Integrity & Maintenance: Ensure all loan-related data is entered accurately and maintained across all databases and systems to provide a "single source of truth."

 

  • Investor & Financing Transitions: Facilitate the timely and accurate assignment or transition of closed loan assets to designated investors or financing partners, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
  • Portfolio Support: Assist with ongoing servicing, asset management milestones, and loan accounting for the agricultural portfolio to ensure all assets remain in good standing.
  • Customer Support: Participate in active customer support activities related to both the initial loan application process and ongoing loan servicing inquiries.

Operational Optimization

  • Scalable Process Development: Support the implementation of scalable procedures to ensure loan processing and reporting remain timely, compliant, and efficient as the company grows.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with technical teams to implement and optimize IT systems, ensuring technology aligns with operational needs and growth objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize data-informed insights to recommend improvements for operational processes, policies, and technologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain professional communication across all departments to report loan statuses, resolve bottlenecks, and assist with ad hoc finance projects as needed.

Qualifications Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in loan operations, agricultural real estate and operating lending, or financial services
  • Knowledge of loan documentation, title work, regulatory compliance and lien, UCC, and mortgage filings
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong communication and time management skills
  • Proficiency with loan management systems and digital workflow tools

Preferred:

  • Experience with agricultural lending or Farm Service Agency processes
  • Familiarity with IT system implementation in operational environments
