Summary

Imugene is looking for an experienced business leader with a demonstrated track record of building high-performing teams, collaborating and influencing across matrixed organizations.  The ideal candidate will have an exceptional ability to deeply understand the science and landscape, as well as the business considerations important to developing and implementing biotechnology and cell therapy strategies and transformational change.  The Director of Strategic Planning and Transformation Management reports to the Chief Operating Officer.  This role will require a leader who combines executive presence, emotional intelligence and a strong work ethic to build a best-in-class strategic planning and transformation management capability at Imugene.

Strategic Planning

 

    • Synthesize strategic objectives to identify, recommend, and execute on operational initiatives that can meet the company’s growth objectives
    • Support the company’s leadership team in complex, ambiguous business decisions through rigorous, insightful analysis and influential communication and interpersonal skills
    • Establish and drive the creating and implementation of company’s Long-Term Business plan and Operating Model
    • Partner closely with research, development, finance, business development and sub-functions to ensure alignment with the operations function
    • Lead and evolve the strategy, planning and transformation management capability to deliver enterprise analytics and strategic actionable insights

 

Transformation / Change Management

 

    • Engage senior leadership to define and launch appropriate change initiatives including enterprise-wide training and communications scope, requirements and execution strategy
    • Own and develop an enterprise-wide communication strategy, plans, and content based on transformation project scope and complexity
    • Develop and deploy best practices across the enterprise through the deployment of a change management center of excellence

 

Project Management

 

    • Partner with key stakeholders to champion continuous improvement, new ideas, and initiatives that drive corporate programs
    • Establish and manage Imugene’s center of excellence for project management
    • Set project management standards, methodologies and best practices across the company
    • Develop communications and presentations related to project charter, status, critical path activity timing, resources required, and related issues and / or risks
    • Ensure delivery of high quality integrated cross functional project plans, effective management of project activities, and control of project timelines
    • Develop and maintain tools for internal communication about project goals and progress (dashboards etc.)
    • Establish and operationalize center excellence for operational excellence and change management across Imugene functions
    • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Life Science and 12+ years’ relevant industry experience, or MS/MBA/PhD and 10+ years’ relevant experience, or equivalent training and experience
    • 5+ years leading corporate development, corporate strategic planning or management consulting organizations at a major international firm
    • Direct people leadership experience is desired with a demonstrated success of leading high-performing organizations to achieve corporate objectives
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
    • Knowledge of Change Management methods (e.g. Prosci ADKAR, 7-S, Kotter, etc.)
    • Experience in developing communication strategies, plans and content for medium to complex projects
    • Proficiency in applying change/project management methodologies, tools, strategies, and concepts to drive adoption and utilization of highly complex and technical implementations
    • Must be able to effectively lead multiple priorities
    • Demonstrated analytical and technology skills, including proficiency in project planning tools, content management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent is desired
    • Change Management certification or equivalent is a plus
    • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly fluid company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

    • Should possess working knowledge of drug development and manufacturing processes in a health authority regulated environment
    • Diverse experience across commercial, operations, R&D, and G&A functions preferred
    • Ideally, the candidate has held a similar role/level in corporate strategy or project management at a large $5 billion + organization
    • Aligns senior leaders and key stakeholders through excellent interpersonal skills, high EQ, and persuasion
    • Drives to get beyond the abstract and general to deliver rigorous, nuanced and actionable recommendations. Ability to deliver insightful data analysis & synthesis that uncovers market opportunities
    • Track record of completing quantitative and qualitative analysis and financial models
    • Expertise in coaching, mentoring, and developing staff across various functions and levels
    • Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to present at the executive level
    • Domestic and international travel required; expected to be 10-15% of the time and as needed

 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of the San Francisco Bay Area is $150,000 to $280,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus and LTI may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for benefits including health insurance, flexible spending account, health savings account, life insurance and disability, a competitive 401(k) plan, generous paid time off, employee wellness programs and many other benefits.
