LOCATION: Remote (must be available during business hours on EST) 

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, 1-Year Contract with possibility of extension upon mutual agreement

REPORT TO: Senior Director, Growth and Partnerships

COMPENSATION: $48,000 annually or $4000 for 12 months

ABOUT THE ROLE

The OpEd Project is looking for a rising superstar to join our team that engages and elevates the voices of participants in and around our public programs and on social media. The Community Associate plays a meaningful and vital role in supporting community experience and engagement at The OpEd Project, at a critical moment in our organization’s development. The Community Associate ensures we communicate effectively with our diverse audiences and provides critical behind-the-scenes support to ensure maximum engagement and impact. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Community Associate supports communications and community engagement efforts with our global network of participants, partners, fellows and alums, and has the opportunity to contribute to our outreach strategy to help The OpEd Project amplify more underrepresented voices. This role provides some public-facing production support in virtual workshops and webinars, and has vital internal aspects, including supporting the administration of our public programming and organizational storytelling. The role also supports the development of new approaches to data collection, integrity and analysis. The Community Associate works directly with the Managers of Community Experience and Community Engagement, and reports to the Senior Director, Growth and Partnerships.

  • Mastery of social media platforms, and comfort using creative tools, including graphic design and video editing 
  • Presentation skills and comfort in front of a crowd/with public speaking
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a customer-service mindset

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a B.A. or equivalent work experience
  • Experience and comfort using and navigating Google suite and Zoom
  • Experience creating and maintaining public communications, especially via social media 
  • Experience managing administrative systems 
  • Project management experience and/or coordinating processes from start to finish
  • Experience with virtual public programming a plus
  • Experience using Eventbrite a plus
  • Experience with databases (HubSpot), data migrations and data management a plus
