The OpEd Project is a social venture and leadership organization, founded to change who writes history.  Through our nationally recognized curriculum, our team of mentors, and a portfolio of programs in partnership with funders, community leaders, and leading institutions across the nation and the globe, we accelerate the ideas and impact of underrepresented voices, specifically including women of all backgrounds.

In response to the unprecedented challenge to our democracy and the media, we are doubling down on bringing powerful voices forward.  We’re looking for an extraordinary leader who is excited to grow our Public Programs across the US and the world.


Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Public Programs will oversee and grow an existing portfolio of 15 city programs to be double that amount by 2020. This portfolio oversight and growth requires the ability to manage costs, solicit investments and deliver revenue to the organization at a minimum of $500K per year. The Director will directly manage the New York City public programs, and will hire, develop and oversee a team of Program Managers to manage and grow the portfolio.  We’re looking for an experienced leader with 8-10+ years in a senior leadership role.


You’re good at:


  • Being fast-paced and entrepreneurial with a can-do attitude.

  • Leading teams to performance and bottom-line outcomes (at least five years in a people management role).

  • Managing complex processes and moving parts.

  • Driving towards outcomes and bottom-line goals.

  • Proven experience in managing high-level relationship with key stakeholders (civic leaders, politicians, funders, investors).

  • Getting people excited about being part of our growing community.

  • Logistics, overseeing the launch of new initiatives and maintaining quality in existing programs.

  • Aligning deeply with our mission and commitment to changing the world.


Extra points:


  • Experience with fundraising or philanthropy.

  • Social media savvy.

  • Direct experience with the OpEd Project.


Compensation:


This position is based in New York City. The OpEd Project will not assume interview-related travel costs for applicants.
