Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Transport parts from Final Prep Department to Shipping Department for packaging.

2.       Establish the weight & dimensions to build the box/crate required.

3.       Handle and cut to size several different types of wood, cardboard, and foam using industrial saws, drills, knives, and other tools.

4.       Maintain close attention to detail when marking boxes/crates with identification, labels, packing slips, etc. as well as ensuring each package is securely closed and will not result in lost or damaged goods during shipping.

5.       Work closely with the Department Supervisor to receive and submit shipment documentation.

6.       Document verification & ensure accuracy of the following:

a.                   Bill of Lading

b.                   Shipping Labels

c.                   Packing Slips

d.                   Buy Off

7.       Prepare packaged shipments (boxes/crates/pallets) to be ready to load on truck.

8.       Ensure the correct packages are shipped with the correct carrier: i.e. FedEx, UPS, Estes, etc.

9.       Effectively communicate with delivery drivers and obtain signature, date of pick up and tracking label required on the Bill of Lading.

10.   Meticulous detail in cleaning as you go, keeping the workplace clean, organized, and safe, as well as properly stocked materials on hand at all times.

11.   Perform daily & weekly preventative maintenance on tools and equipment used in packaging, including saws and staplers to ensure good operation and reduce down times during peak production times.

12.   Be a leader in maintaining a clean and very organized work area; comply with company 5S and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) programs.

Education and Experience

·         Minimum of high school education and 6 months prior experience preferred in shipping.

·         Forklift experience a plus, but not required (training provided)

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      Must be able to follow established written methods and procedures, training will be provided.

·         General basic carpentry skills required. 

·         Must be able to read a tape measure and operate a band saw, table saw, and power drill.

·         Must have a good command of the English language, both verbal and written.

 

Physical Demands

·         Medium to heavy lifting (ranges from 10 lbs. to 100 lbs.)

·         Must be able to stand, bend, and walk frequently

·         Regularly required to stand and reach at tables.

 

Personal Protective Equipment

·         Safety glasses (mandatory)

·         Protective gloves when handling certain tools except for power saw

Work Environment

·         Factory setting (not air conditioned)
