OUR MISSION

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between cancer patients and their treatment — such as loss of income, increased out-of-pocket expenses, and socioeconomic factors. When faced with these financial barriers, families have to make impossible decisions like choosing between paying for treatment or basic essentials like housing, food, and transportation. No family should have to choose between their health and their home — and we won’t stop until that’s the reality.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Senior Grants Manager will support corporate development and advancement efforts for Family Reach. This person needs to have a deep understanding of the Family Reach mission & vision and be able to clearly articulate our unique role in the cancer journey. They must be strategic and have strong communication, grant writing, deliverables, project management skills (pre and post-grant management) as it relates to fundraising, especially in corporate, healthcare and Philanthropic

The Senior Grants Manager will assist in creating strategic development approaches, develop grants and proposals as well as communications needed for them, and lead related project management components to grow revenue for Family Reach. This position will be a key contributor in the development of industry-based funding, to establish a strong foundation for sustainable future growth and may need to be available to join pitch meetings to align Family Reach’s objectives with the prospective donors to better articulate an impactful partnership.

The Senior Grants Manager, in collaboration with other departments, will advance corporate fundraising initiatives and help manage Family Reach’s corporate donor sales cycle. They will report to the VP of Healthcare Alliances and will work closely with the Director of Partnerships.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant Submission (Pre-award)

  • Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities from corporations

  • Lead grant proposal development and submission

  • Draft proposals and LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets and gain input from various departments such as Programs, Finance, Content & Storytelling, Data, and Cancer Equity Initiatives

  • Create and maintain a primary submission calendar of grants and prospects with associated materials needed, in addition to due dates

  • Research trends in data and statistics to assist in development of grant proposals and submissions

  • Facilitate grant contracts and agreements with support from key stakeholders

Grant Management (Post-award)

  • Serve as project manager for grants and assigned strategic sales initiatives for Family Reach 

  • Coordinate with cross-discipline team members to keep project requirements, deadlines and deliverables on track 

  • Meet with project contributors to identify and resolve issues, as well as analyze and elevate approaches

  • Ensure all grant deliverables meet quality standards and guidelines with gaining input from necessary stakeholders

  • Establish effective project plans and provide leadership for plan execution

  • Conduct post-project evaluation and identify successful vs. unsuccessful project elements

  • Maintain and steward collegial relationships with grant funders and respond on time

Department Planning

  • Monitor progress towards achieving partnership goals and identify areas of success and improvement for the team to address through adjustments

  • Ensure the Business Development team achieves its goals in advancing the Family Reach mission through quarterly OKR creation and tracking

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments at Family Reach to further key projects, initiatives, funding proposals and presentations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in grant management and writing, and project management

  • 3 years experience in external fundraising preferred

  • Proven ability to manage relationships with corporate and grant funders, healthcare industry preferred

  • Ability to proactively identify and creatively solve problems

  • Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues from varied backgrounds and interacting with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds, views, and positions

  • Superior writing, oral communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Previous account management experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Salesforce or other CRM and Foundation Search or similar grant research platform experience a plus

  • Solutions-oriented; eager for ongoing learning and self-improvement in the role

  • Passion for Family Reach’s mission

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. Family Reach offers an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to, an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and generous vacation and leave policies.
