Position Overview:
The Family Reach Programs & Health Equity team is seeking an innovative, strategic, and energetic Director to advance our collaboration and cancer equity goals. This position will oversee a department responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding partnerships with organizations and healthcare teams entrenched within communities most adversely affected by the financial burden of cancer along with national advocacy organizations. The Director will set proactive strategies for stakeholder engagement on a national scale deepening Family Reach’s patient reach and engagement.
This position plays a critical role both internally and externally. This position will ensure cross-departmental collaboration across all FR Departments to maximize our engagement with our community partners. Additionally, this position will represent Family Reach and its community partner strategy at conferences, presentations, and meetings. Reporting to the VP, Programs and Health Equity, the Director of Cancer Equity Initiatives is a full-time, exempt position.
Key Responsibilities:
Health Equity Community Partnerships & Networking
- Oversee on-site program and identify learnings to shape future programs
- Play a leadership role in developing and managing external relationships with key stakeholders - including but not limited to national advocacy organizations, regional organizations and local service providers
- Assess and analyze the cancer landscape to develop streamlined approach to nonprofit collaborations and the type of partnerships that Family Reach may explore and formalize
- External representation for Family Reach within the cancer community at conferences, meetings and events
- Partner with community, regional and statewide organizations and stakeholders to identify opportunities to collaborate to improve delivery of culturally competent and equitable programs and services for families facing cancer
- Lead with a cultural competency and health equity lens in all external and internal conversations
Program Management & Operations
- Work cross-functionally to develop strategic plans for partners (including budget and resources required, programmatic targets, and timelines) that help operationalize and keep the team aligned
- Manages budget for all CEI programs and partnerships
- Keep extended leadership informed on progress towards building new relationships, developing a clear, smooth and partner-friendly “hand off” process to operationalize the partnership
- Collaborate with the Programs and Health Equity team to ensure the full programs division is aligned and can work with community partners
- Collaboration more broadly across the org
- Identify and lead platforms to facilitate collaboration among stakeholder relationships
- Including but not limited to collaboration in executing Family Reach’s Imagine Session
- Oversee internal and external messaging to elevate Family Reach’s health equity programs
Department Leadership
- Manage a team responsible for building stakeholder relationships across the country
- Monitor progress towards achieving partnership goals and identify areas of success and improvement for the team to address through programmatic adjustments
- Ensure the Community Relations team achieves its goals in advancing the Family Reach mission through quarterly OKR creation and tracking
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments at Family Reach to further key projects, initiatives, funding proposals and presentations.
Position Requirements:
- 5-7 minimum years experience with account or relationship management
- 3+ years of management and supervisory experience preferred
- Deep understanding of and passion for health equity
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in an agile environment; prioritize effectively to meet internal and external due dates
- Comfortable with making strategic decisions, recommendations and creative problem-solving
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills are required
- Experience with messaging for external audiences and funding proposals preferred
- Nonprofit experience in the cancer space preferred
- 20% travel may be required to meet with key stakeholders and prospective partners and represent FR at conferences
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. Family Reach offers an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to, an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and generous vacation and leave policies.
