Position Overview

Family Reach is seeking a VP of Advancement to partner with the CEO, Board of Directors, and staff to lead the development function for the organization. Family Reach is experiencing tremendous growth, and the VP of Advancement will play a critical role to systematically strengthen the organization’s overall fundraising capacity, long-term sustainability, brand and public awareness, and ability to deepen our overall impact. This person will be a key member on
the Senior Leadership Team, which is responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of our growing organization. This person will be immediately responsible for ensuring the organization meets its 2023 non pharma fundraising target $3,600,000 while setting the stage to exceed $5,000,000 in revenue in 2024.

The ideal candidate is an innovative leader who has a proven track record of building visibility and effectively strengthening the organization’s overall fundraising capacity with a compelling story to engage its supporters. This person will supervise and mentor a seasoned development team made up of 6 members including a Director of Development, Events Manager, Social Media content manager, Major donor officers in the $1,000-$25,000 range and a Development operations support person.

Key Responsibilities:


Senior Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CEO, leadership team, Board of Directors and Development team to create, implement, and manage a comprehensive development strategy and long-term sustainability plan that includes non-pharma corporate partnerships, major gifts, special events, and individual support

  • Partner with the CEO to align development goals and vision with the organization’s strategic priorities

  • Collaborate across departments to accurately represent the Family Reach vision, mission and families we serve, in addition to working with finance and operations teams to seamlessly incorporate and communicate revenue flow and projections

  • Represent Family Reach at external meetings, industry events and other speaking engagements when CEO is not available


Fundraising Advancement Responsibilities:

  • Identify revenue growth areas for the organization, working effectively to both capitalize on the available opportunities to sustain the projected organizational growth and identify new revenue streams

  • Ensure the development team maintains the highest level of communication and cooperation while building long-term relationships with external constituents

  • Plan and organize regular departmental retreats and meetings to prioritize professional development and training for the department while keeping the strategic departmental initiatives moving forward

  • Actively manage a principal gifts prospect pool to increase our Major Donor pipeline and revenue flow

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and close gifts from Family Reach’s existing highest-level donors


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years demonstrated successful fundraising experience required

  • Proven ability to close large, 6 figure gifts to an organization

  • Previous management experience required

  • Familiarity with the cancer space a plus

  • Strong track record of meeting and exceeding revenue generation plans

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and political acumen to establish and maintain good working relationships within all organizational levels

  • Significant strategic planning experience and ability to conceive, design, implement, evaluate and manage fundraising programs and strategies

  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation and marketing skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively while working under multiple deadlines

  • Previous experience with Salesforce or similar donor CRM preferred

  • Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed



Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000. Family Reach offers an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to, an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and generous vacation and leave policies.
