OUR MISSION: Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment. We deliver financial education, financial coaching, resource navigation, and emergency relief funds to patients and caregivers facing a cancer diagnosis, so no family has to choose between their health and their home. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Senior Research Manager will support and execute Family Reach research strategy to deepen the organization’s understanding of the financial burden of cancer and elevating our role as thought leaders and experts in this space. The Senior Research Manager, in collaboration with the Director of Impact and the Impact Advisory Board, will spearhead the creation of a research roadmap that will help Family Reach establish key opportunities to study the impact of the organization’s programs.

This candidate will collaborate with new and existing research partners to create a robust network of future research studies and opportunities. The Senior Research Manager will also conduct program evaluation studies internally and will be able to analyze the data and summarize key information to inform program strategy.

The Senior Research Manager will work cross-functionally across the team to drive a data-driven culture to support the research and evaluation needs of Family Reach. The ideal candidate will have a balanced skill set including research and evaluation, program evaluation and analysis, research literature reviews and strength in summarizing programmatic data to inform leadership of key findings to prepare to share internally and externally.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Planning, Coordination and Collaboration

* Leads and manages the work of multiple research studies with external partners to evaluate the Financial Treatment Program

* Collaborates and consults with Principal Investigators, study teams, and study stakeholders on the design, development, and conduct of research studies and best practices

* Develops and oversees the implementation of best practice guidelines for coordinating research studies

* Assists the Director of Impact in strategic planning and development of budgets

* Collaborates with research partners and helps prepare study progress reports and annual reports.

* Manages partners’ regulatory submissions, including preparation of IRB applications, amendment submissions, and annual reporting when applicable

* Manages communication between Family Reach and internal and external stakeholders.

* Manages the relationship with the Impact Advisory Board and regularly engages with these experts for support with research initiatives

* Conduct literature reviews and summarize the latest cancer related research

* Lead the summarization of external research and train all staff to be able to implement key findings into their work


Measure and Report on Organizational Impact

* Analyze, summarize and report on research findings to inform Director of Impact of areas of success and opportunities for growth for the organization

* Support the Director of Impact in Family Reach’s evolution as a data-driven organization, including but not limited to:

* Creating and delivering internal presentations and reports

* Supporting team in preparing for external presentations

* Conducting internal trainings alongside the Impact and IT teams

* Facilitate cross departmental conversations and trainings to inform staff of key findings


QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5-7 years experience in research study design and implementation, program evaluation and data summarization

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

* Ability to conduct statistical analysis and summarize key findings to present to leadership

* Comfort with multiple projects and leading cross-departmental meetings and initiatives

* Experience in statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS or R programming

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with peers, scholars, funders, practitioners through writing, speech, and graphs

* Experience in Salesforce or a similar related data management platform

* Demonstrated success turning research results into meaningful stories for the organization

* Interest and expertise in working collaboratively with colleagues from varied backgrounds and interacting with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds, views, and positions

* Ability to proactively identify and creatively solve problems in a fast-paced environment

* Solutions-oriented; eager for ongoing learning and self-improvement in the role

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. Family Reach offers an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and generous vacation and leave policies.
