Postion Overview
Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment. Family Reach is seeking a tech-savvy, mission-oriented intern to join our growing team. This opportunity is perfect for someone hoping to learn valuable skills related to health sector research; data management, reporting, and visualization; and communicating key findings with non-technical audiences.

This is a paid internship opportunity. The intern will work 20 hours a week from September to December 2022, but we can be flexible to adjust to your scheduling needs. The ideal candidate is based in Boston, MA with the ability to work from the office one day per week. Qualified remote candidates will also be considered.

The Impact Intern will report to the Senior Impact Data Manager and work closely with all members of the Impact team. This person will also gain insights into the day to day operations of a nonprofit with opportunities to shadow or collaborate across departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Impact team will work with the incoming intern to identify current department projects that are well-aligned with the candidate’s skills and professional goals. Some expected responsibilities are listed below.

Research and Literature Review

  • Stay up to date with current research related to the financial burdens of cancer
  • Conduct targeted literature reviews as needed on areas of organizational focus
  • Research industry best practice for collecting, measuring, and/or sharing data
  • Summarize and share research findings with Family Reach staff


Data Management and Reporting

  • Review and/or document current reporting processes to ensure consistency
  • Use Salesforce to report on and summarize data requested by other departments
  • Support with projects related to data quality and Salesforce database maintenance
  • Create data visualizations for external impact reports using Google Data Studio


Additional Projects

  • Support projects related to strategic partnerships, including the Cancer Equity Initiative (CEI)
  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders including CEI partners
  • Participate in regular Impact and cross-department meetings
  • Collaborate on Impact related materials, such as blog posts, social tiles, or 1-pagers
  • Support with ad-hoc projects assigned to the Impact team as needed


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enthusiastic, curious, and proactive attitude
  • Excellent research skills, health sector experience a plus
  • Analytical thinker with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and technologies quickly
  • Experience with Salesforce or Google Data Studio a plus
