Strategic Partnerships Intern

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment. Family Reach is seeking a tech-savvy, self-motivated, mission-oriented intern to join our growing team. This opportunity is perfect for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, is a strategic thinker, and wants to gain experience in the nonprofit space. This is a paid internship opportunity and this position is remote.

The Strategic Partnerships Intern will report to the Senior Project Management team in the Strategy & Alliances department. This position will focus on supporting partnership and network building efforts among our Strategy & Alliances Team driving forward critical goals for the whole department. The intern will work 20-25 hours a week from June 1, 2021 - August 31, 2021 but are flexible if this does not work with your schedule. The Strategic Partnerships Intern will learn valuable skills towards their professional development preparing them for post-graduation aspirations.

Strategy & Alliances Team at Family Reach:
The Strategy & Alliance team drives the innovation and strategic expansion of Family Reach, with a focus on delivering long-term impact and systemic change. External groups and partnerships are critical to the success of our team and the projects we take on. This position will support (but not be limited to) the engagement and expansion of the following initiatives:
  • The LiFT Network
  • Family Reach’s Imagine Session
  • Community Outreach Partnerships
The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has a passion for giving back, drive to network to make new connections and is interested in working on projects that have a strategic partnerships focus. Organization and communication skills are a plus. The ability to intuitively work with different technologies, including Salesforce is also a plus. It is well suited for an individual who enjoys both learning and mastering a wide variety of tasks, as well as working with a number of different stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Prospect & Pipeline Building: Work collaboratively with the Strategy & Alliances Team to build the greater prospect and pipeline list to drive forward key team goals. Key responsibilities in this area will include:
  • Conduct research and analysis on prospective organizations to help identify prospects for
    • The LiFT Network: Family Reach's coalition of cancer nonprofits
    • Family Reach Imagine Session: Audiences, Stakeholders & Potential Speakers
    • Community Outreach: Trusted community organizations within Black and Hispanic cancer communities
  • Create or work with the Strategy & Alliances team existing data systems to
    • Record prospects and individual and organizational findings for future engagement
    • Identify and enter prospects into into Salesforce including lead scoring metrics to help support the LiFT Team's recruitment and development efforts
  • When applicable conduct pipeline prospect outreach to
    • Nonprofits in the cancer space to establish initial interest and eligibility of a LiFT Network Member
    • Potential Community Outreach Partners or Imagine Session future partners
Relationship Support: Work closely with the Strategy & Alliances Team to engage existing and future partners in effective ways.
  • Utilize existing methods of communication, content and technology to
    • Offer suggestions on how to improve the user experience of The LiFT Network’s Online Community including member engagement and collaboration, navigation, and content.
  • Research and investigate trends in
    • Virtual and hybrid conferences across all industries and present key findings on how other organizations best engage attendees in meaningful and productive ways to support the future planning of Family Reach’s Imagine Sessions
Internal and External Meeting Engagement: Across the department, this position will be exposed to many internal and external virtual meetings and understand how we work collectively as a team.
  • Attend and participate in external and internal team and cross departmental virtual meetings prepared to report on findings as needed.
    • Capture any notes from meetings including documenting next steps, due dates, and task owners.
  • With the guidance of supervisors gain experience in key meeting agenda building and follow up with both Internal and External Stakeholders.
  • Attend any LiFT Member onboarding and/or training calls as new members join The Network, as well as attend any regular status meetings with Members as requested

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated success in starting and fully completing multiple projects
  • Comfort with multiple projects and working with two supervisors at once
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate through Gmail and Zoom with internal and external stakeholders
  • Eager for ongoing learning and self-improvement in the role
  • Interest and expertise in collaborative work with individuals from varied backgrounds
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
