Programs Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment. Family Reach is seeking a tech-savvy, mission-oriented intern to join our growing team. This opportunity is a great fit for someone looking to learn the foundations of the programs side of a nonprofit. This is a paid internship opportunity and this position is remote.

The Programs Intern will support the Programs team in the day to day research, communications and tasks that are necessary for the effective and smooth implementation of our Financial Treatment Program, ensuring that the organization meets the needs of families affected by cancer. The programs intern will work on independently on research and outreach assignments. They will also work collaboratively with team members and cross-departmentally on larger ongoing projects as needed.

The intern will work 20-25 hours per week starting June 1, 2021 through August 31, 2021, but the start and end dates can be flexible to accommodate an academic calendar.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has a passion for giving back, and enjoys working both independently and collaboratively. Organization and communication skills are a plus but can be taught. It is well suited for an individual who enjoys both learning and mastering a wide variety of tasks, as well as working in a patient-centered and mission-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Nonprofit Programs Operations
  • Support the Programs Team in follow-up with families pertaining to Financial Planning, Navicore Services, and Family Relations
  • Data entry and review to support patient application review
  • Assist in varying Programs campaign preparation assignments
Project Management
  • Learn essential project management skills and principles
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings via Zoom
  • Create and circulate detailed notes to team
  • Communicate important project updates to appropriate team members
Internal Systems
  • Learn basic Salesforce functions to assist with data entry and record clean-up
  • Gain technological experience in the active use of Microsoft Office Suite Applications, Dropbox, and Quip

  • Access to a computer and internet
  • Experience with Salesforce and Quip preferred, ability to learn new technology required
