Development Intern Job Description

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment. Family Reach is seeking a tech-savvy, mission-oriented intern to join our growing team. This opportunity is a great fit for someone looking to learn the foundations of development for a nonprofit. This is a paid internship opportunity and this position is remote.

The Development Intern will support the Development team’s efforts to expand fundraising efforts while building a pipeline of grant prospects and social media influencers. Researching and identifying propsects will be the primary focus, but the intern will also support the development team with drafting content and organizing donor records.

The intern will work 20-25 hours per week starting June 1, 2021 through August 31, 2021, but the start and end dates can be flexible to accommodate an academic calendar.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has a passion for giving back, and enjoys working collaboratively. Organization and communication skills are a plus but can be taught. It is well suited for an individual who enjoys research and communication, as well as working in a mission-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Nonprofit Operations

• Support the Partnerships Team in identifying prospects that align with Family Reach’s mission
• Draft content to support outreach to prospects
• Support the Senior Marketing Manager in identification and outreach to social media influencers to increase awareness
• Support the full Development team with wrap-up materials from Family Reach’s 25th Anniversary, including content for thank you notes
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings
• Other duties as assigned

Internal Systems

• Learn basic Salesforce functions to assist with data entry and record clean-up

• Ability to learn Salesforce and Quip
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Enthusiastic, curious, and proactive attitude
• Access to laptop
