The Volunteer Manager is a full-time position that will help deliver the Family Reach Foundation mission. He/she reports to the Senior Manager of Programs and Evaluation.  This position manages Family Reach’s volunteer community as well as the day-to-day activities of the Family Reach Financial Planning for Cancer program.  This important program matches pro bono financial planners with cancer patients and their families to help them manage cash flow and spending during cancer treatment.  This position works closely with members of the Family Reach team to onboard volunteers, match families with volunteers and to implement activities that will have a positive effect on retention of volunteers. Volunteer Management:

Collaborates with the external agencies to recruit, onboard and retain volunteers for the program.

Volunteer onboarding - Responsible for onboarding volunteers including documentation of onboarding activities, training on program requirements and how to access the Family Reach Salesforce system.

Volunteer communications – Manages communication with volunteers to answer questions about program requirements, provide resources to support successful engagements with families experiencing cancer, and encourage the volunteers’ adherence to program tracking and guidelines.

Volunteer tracking – routinely tracks all program activity for recruitment and patient-volunteer engagements to support program monitoring and evaluation.  

Volunteer appreciation / retention - conducts activities and initiates changes to maximize volunteer retention.


Program management:

Oversee the day-to-day activities of the program including patient and volunteer engagement to successfully complete the initial matching and monitoring of the pro bono engagement.

Collaborate with Programs Leadership Team to organize and continuously improve the scalability of the program and the experience of volunteers and families with the program. 

Conduct training calls with Social Workers at hospitals to grant access to the financial planning referral system.

Work closely with Family Reach staff to identify families to represent the Family Reach mission for various initiatives, events, and communications.

Seek support from stakeholders within and outside of Family Reach to anticipate issues and problem-solve to maximize the efficiency and impact of services delivered to families.

Assist with special projects as assigned.




Required Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in related field 

Experience working with volunteers

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Ability to balance competing tasks efficiently while maintaining high attention to detail

Ability to work with a high-degree of collaboration and independence 

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while working under multiple deadlines
