Scientist I – Protein Expression & Purification


BioLoomic’s Mission:

BioLoomics is developing safer, more effective cancer medicines through innovative antibody solutions.

Our mission is to leverage directed evolution in human cells to discover programmable antibody degraders of therapeutic targets. Our platform combines synthetic biology, robotics, imaging, and machine learning to perform a function-first search of antibody design space at ultra-high throughput. The Contribution You Will Make:

BioLoomics is seeking an experienced Scientist I, centered on Protein Expression & Purification. You will be responsible for generating purified samples of novel antibody designs that flow from our discovery platform. These purified antibodies are tested in-house, enabling fast paced optimization of high efficacy antibody candidates. You will work alongside a broader team of 10 talented scientists and engineers that have strong molecular biology skills. You will work closely with and report to the Director of R&D. This role is 100% on-site, full- time with a semi-flexible work schedule, and will require possible light weekend work to maintain cell cultures.

Successful execution by you and the team will lead to the discovery of novel antibody designs that will progress to the clinic and have the potential to become life-saving medicines for people in need. You will also play a critical role in maturing a novel antibody modality that has the potential to unlock new therapeutic targets.


Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Mammalian Cell Culture, Transfection & Protein Expression Optimization (BSL1/2).
  • Tracking Expression with Various Protein and Fluorescence Assays.
  • Protein Purification: Affinity, SEC, IEX, HIC
  • Protein Characterization: Concentration, Purity, Activity
  • Careful and thorough lab note taking and data compilation.
  • Author and/or contribute to abstracts/manuscripts, patents, study reports, and regulatory submissions.

The Skills & Experience That Are Required:

  • Ph.D. or a B.S./M.S. with at least 2 years’ industry experience with mammalian cell culture, protein expression and purification.
  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and problem solve protein expressions and purifications.
  • Strong Skills with Protein Purification using FPLC
  • Strong Analytical Skills for protein characterization
  • Well-developed organization, lab notebook, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience compiling and presenting data to science-oriented audiences.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamicp environment.

The Skills & Experience That Are Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Antibodies and Protein Structure
  • High-throughput strategies
