ABOUT THE ROLE

We are excited to add a Human Resources and Employee Experience team member to our People & Culture team! We are seeking an energetic, personable, and highly organized People & Culture Associate who takes pride in building relationships and cultivating a thoughtful employee experience. The P&C Associate is a dynamic, high visibility role that will have a major impact on enriching the company culture and act as a critical part of the P&C team.


This is a hybrid role based out of the Gaithersburg, MD office/warehouse and will report to the People & Culture Generalist located in the Gaithersburg, MD Office.


As a response to the pandemic, Albert Uster Imports Inc. office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Monday through Wednesday, with the option to telework on Thursday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the Gaithersburg office are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the P&C team to provide administrative and functional support to all areas including employee relations, new hire onboarding, benefits administration, recruitment, compliance, trainings, etc. for employees in all locations.
  • Execute a broad range of office activities and events in accordance with the annual engagement calendar that positively influence our company culture such as planning the annual holiday party, monthly food celebrations, employee engagement initiatives, internal office meetings, etc.
  • Champion various P&C projects over the course of the year including the implementation of the engagement calendar, trainings, and employee policies. Critical thinking of process improvements and creatively brainstorming initiatives continue to drive the AUI culture.
  • Conduct onboarding and offboarding for employees, independent contractors, and temporary staff.
  • Support P&C to deliver an elevated employee recognition program and onboarding experience including anniversary/birthday gifts and life event recognition. Create and manage posts on our internal messaging platform for holidays, updates, and events.
  • Serve as a contact for employee questions, address requests, and escalate concerns to P&C Generalist as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update all data in our HR Platform (TriNet). This includes entering new hire information, pulling employee reports, and resolving issues and discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, emergency preparedness, and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability through AUI Fine Foods’ diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives and ensure those values are represented in the P&C programs and processes.
  • Maintain office supplies and serve as point of contact for ad-hoc requests.
  • Work closely with IT to ensure all technology in the office is up and always running smoothly including new hire set up and employee events.
  • Support the administrative needs of the team as requested, including booking travel, supporting internal meetings and expense reporting.
  • Additional ad-hoc requests and projects as needed.


 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • 2+ years of business experience in HR or administrative support
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail and a proficiency in MS Office products
  • Ability to proactively anticipate needs (i.e. inventory and event preparations, etc. when needed) throughout the day to adapt to a fluid work environment
  • A self-starter who is willing to “roll up their sleeves” and perform multiple tasks independently as a resource for employees and the business.
  • A passion for food and people!

Preferred

  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Desire to grow in a career in HR and interest in DEIB initiatives
  • Bachelor’s in human resource management or business is a plus
  • Experience with PEO a plus


 

SALARY RANGE

We hire exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways we do that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $50,000 - $65,000.

This role will be bonus eligible.

 

Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferrable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion, the salary offered.
