Platforms Editor - Sportsnaut
Sportsnaut is looking for an editor to join its teams. The editor will curate Sportsnaut’s homepage, distribute its best columns, video, and sports portfolio blogs to its social channels, and write desktop alerts. The editor will also write the daily Sportsnaut email newsletter.
The ideal candidate will have experience writing headlines and social copy, and an interest in SEO and analytics. They need to be a sports news junkie who loves to get stories in front of as many eyes as possible. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in mobile trends and experience programming digital platforms for a sports news organization. They will know what compels audiences to read stories and watch videos on mobile and desktop.
This position requires the ability to make decisions under pressure and change footing quickly and multitask when news breaks. Working on weekdays and weekends, you will be part of a small but dedicated team that is crucial in keeping our highly engaged audiences up to date. Experience and comfort working independently is a must.
The position is a full-time position. Candidates from around the country will be considered. It will require working both Saturdays and Sundays.
Key tasks
Curate Sportsnaut's homepage and social channels with the best of its best columns, video, as well as content from other sports news sites in the Sportsnaut portfolio of sites.
Write the daily Sportsnaut email newsletter.
Work with sports vertical editors to promote topical and top-performing content on each sports vertical’s homepage on Sportsnaut
Work independently using flawless news judgment to update multiple platforms while juggling many of the tasks below.
Write and edit headlines, social copy, and desktop alerts.
Monitor real-time analytics to inform story curation and strategy.
Work with other editors to ensure our articles are promoted and distributed in all the right places
Select and/or create feature images that best illustrate articles on the homepage and on social.
Requirements:
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Collaborative and able to work across editorial, analytics, and product teams.
Passion for the sports journalism world.
