Sportsnaut is looking for an experienced Managing Editor to oversee our flagship property. As the Managing Editor, you’ll be responsible for creating, executing, and managing the overall company’s strategy for Sportsnaut. The successful candidate should be able to provide direction through the evaluation and development of strategies, collaboration with team members, promoting brand awareness and positioning of the Sportsnaut brand, and most importantly ensuring brand consistency.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent digital skills combined with knowledge of the latest sports Internet trends. You will work closely with ownership to establish strategies that will boost profits and market share. Ultimately, the ability to plan and deliver an effective digital strategy to achieve business objectives is vital.

You will integrate yourself into the editorial team and create new content for the site.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute digital company strategies within budget requirements.

  • Establish digital objectives and oversee progress.

  • Create smooth operations for all digital tools and applications (e.g., website, blogs, and social media)

  • Evaluate SEO, key KPIs, and marketing metrics.

  • Develop creative ideas to boost web traffic.

  • Advise internal teams on how to use digital technologies.

  • Liaise with both internal and external teams to promote brand consistency.

  • Recommend new optimization techniques to enhance customer experience.

  • Ensure web best practices are met

  • Predict sales performance trends and act to increase the market target

  • Monitor competition and provide strategies to dominate.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key contacts.

  • Evaluate feedback from clients, accounts, sales, management and key stakeholders.

  • Recruit, onboard, and schedule new team members including freelance writers.

  • Engage with independent sports publishing websites.

  • Have a passion for sports and the ability to jump in and write breaking news. 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Three years of work experience as a Managing Editor or similar role.

  • Working experience with online marketing tools and web-based technologies.

  • Conversant with how digital channels work and Google Analytics.

  • Hands-on experience with SEO/SEM.

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and team management skills.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Exemplary skills in stakeholder and project management
