Over the past two decades, McCarton has transformed the lives of thousands of children from around the globe through the McCarton Center for Developmental Pediatrics, the McCarton School for children with autism, and the Children’s Academy for children with speech and language learning delays. In 2018 the McCarton Foundation launched an Early Intervention program, providing services to infants and toddlers diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities.
We utilize the McCarton Integrated Model, which combines speech and language therapy, fine and gross motor therapy, sensory integration therapy, socialization with peers, developmental play skills, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy.
Job Description
Working under an ABA Therapist's direct supervision, the ABA Assistant will provide in-person support to children aged 2-3 years old diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. They will assist therapists in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis programming and provide additional support to families and children in a home-based setting. The role will require communicating with caregivers and a diverse clinical team of ABA, Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapists.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Work collaboratively with an ABA Therapist to implement basic principles and teaching procedures of ABA Therapy
Support caregivers and families with modeling ABA program, managing challenging behaviors, and assisting with technology
Provide encouragement to both child and caregiver
Follow Health & Safety policies including the use of PPE, handwashing, and sanitation procedures
Communicate with our clinical team of Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapists
Desired Skills
Passion for our mission in helping children reach their full potential
1 year or more working in ABA preferred
1 year or more of professional or personal experience with children with special needs preferred
Completion of RBT training program or willingness to become RBT
Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Speech Therapy or a similar program preferred
Bilingual in Spanish or another language strongly desired
Must be able to lift 40 pounds and attend to the needs of a 2-3 -year-old child, including lifting, carrying, and holding hands
