The McCarton Foundation is a non-profit organization on a mission to bring exceptional treatment and services to children with autism and other developmental disabilities. We believe in the ability that exists within every child who has developmental disabilities, and that all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. 

 

We utilize the McCarton Integrated Model, which combines speech and language therapy, fine and gross motor therapy, sensory integration therapy, socialization with peers, developmental play skills and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy.

 

Our new McCarton Bronx Center provides services to infants and toddlers diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities in our beautiful new facility in the West Farms area. We are excited to be able to bring our exceptional method of treatment to children in our Bronx Community and families at no cost.

 

We are currently seeking Occupational Therapists to provide direct Early Intervention services to children from Birth to 3 years of age at our new EI Center. Interested individuals should have a strong background in working with young children and have knowledge of the evaluation and treatment of infants and toddlers.



Job Description

 

Reporting to the Educational Director, the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing services to children predominately aged 2 – 3 years old while working alongside Speech Therapists, ABA Therapists and a team of dedicated professionals in this dynamic nonprofit organization.

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide direct care treatment to children; ages Birth - 3
  • Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and occupational therapy treatment required. Evaluate, care for and direct treatment for patients.
  • Plan, prepare and perform individually designed treatment programs to maintain, improve and/or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and/or prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Identify and document goals, anticipated progress and plans for re-evaluation.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatment to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Collaborate with related services in providing individualized programming for each child.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

 

Desired Skills & Experience


  • NY State licensed
  • Previous experience in autism and early childhood desired
  • Adaptable in a new environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
