Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Broadcast Engineer with specialized knowledge and expertise in the technical operations of broadcast and streaming services to join our team in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in all aspects of broadcast engineering, including equipment maintenance, systems diagnostics and installation, as well as expertise in streaming technologies.

They will be responsible for managing our Broadcast and Streaming services, while working alongside our agile and highly motivated team. Their extensive knowledge and experience in streaming technologies will help ensure the technical success and growth at Original Syndicate.

Our Senior Broadcast Engineer will be extremely detail oriented and resourceful, have strong written and verbal communication skills, have deep expertise in the broadcast, streaming and entertainment industry, display exceptional problem solving abilities, and lead with integrity and a good sense of humor.


Responsibilities

* Accountable for maintaining the highest quality of all deliverables and performance throughout the duration of every engagement;

* Lead technical projects related to streaming services, working closely with other team members to identify technical requirements and develop plans for implementing new solutions;

* Manage broadcast equipment and systems used for streaming services, including overseeing maintenance, updates, and equipment upgrades;

* Provide System design, commissioning and maintenance of multiple streaming control rooms;

* Help develop and implement new processes to constantly improve internal operations;

* Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during broadcast events, with the agility to quickly resolve any problems to ensure uninterrupted services;

* Work with broadcast and streaming team to log and maintain equipment as needed;

* Work directly with clients to manage the functionality of streaming control rooms;

* Manage project communications, ensuring that any issues, changes, or required performances that impact the project are documented and addressed with the production lead;

* Work closely with third-party vendors, as needed, to maintain signal flow into and out of OGS facility(s);

* Responsible for keeping up to date with the latest technological developments in the field and implementing new technologies to improve quality of output and streamline operations;

* Mentor and train junior engineers to develop their technical skills and ensure they follow best practices;

* Ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines related to streaming services and client contracts, such as those related to the technical quality of streams and broadcasting content.


Qualifications/Skill Requirements

* Possesses 6+ years experience working in integrated MCR facilities;

* Is highly experienced with IP based signal transport of video;

* Has solid experience working with IT networks and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network issues;

* Design and implement LiveU products and services, such as LU300, LU800, LU2000 and LiveU Central;

* Serve as the subject matter expert on AWS Elemental products and services, including Elemental Live, Elemental MediaConvert, and Elemental MediaPackage;

* Maintain strong working relationships with AWS Elemental and LiveU support teams to ensure swift resolution of issues and optimal system performance;

* Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices;

* Has in-depth knowledge of streaming technologies, including encoders, servers, switches, and other related hardware;

* Intimately familiar with configuring and managing IP based and traditional video workflows that include NDI, SDI, UHD, HDR, PTP, and SMPTE 2110;

* Has the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues;

* Experience with Virtual Production workflows including the use of LED volumes, green screen technologies and related workflows a plus;

* Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to think creatively to find solutions to technical problems;

* Must have strong project management skills, including the ability to develop project plans, manage resources, and deliver projects on schedule;

* Must be able to adapt to changing technologies and processes, and should be comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to changes in the industry;

* Must have a keen eye for detail and be meticulous in their work;

* Should be able to detect even minor technical issues that could impact the quality of services;

* Should have strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire their team members;

* Possesses a customer focus with outstanding interpersonal communication skills (written and oral);

* Must possess a strong work ethic, thrive in a fast-paced dynamic work environment, and maintain a positive attitude with teams and clients;

* Embraces the daily use of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Docs/Sheets/Slides/Calendar), and project management software;

* Is willing to learn new software and project management systems as needed;

* Is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is able to legally work in the U.S; and

* Is willing to undergo a background check.

Salary: $120,000 - $125,000 annually
