POSITION SUMMARY:


Palisades is seeking an entry-level Accounting & Data Analyst to join its growing and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a bachelor’s or master’s graduate in accounting with relevant work experience (for example, summer internships or 1-2 years accounting experience).

 

The Accounting & Data Analyst will be responsible for accounting and finance functions for the Company, its funds, and certain client accounts, along with reconciliation and reporting of loan servicing cash flows.  Additionally, the Analyst will work alongside a team of CPAs and Finance executives with combined industry and Big 4 accounting experience of over 30 years with a high amount of visibility to the CIO, CFO, and all partners of the Company. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, a growth mindset, and the ability to work well in teams on multiple ongoing projects.


This is a small team, and any candidate must be a team-player, able and willing to work on cross-over projects, able to pick up complex concepts and communicate effectively to both internal and external constituents.  The position will allow the candidate to work collaboratively across the Company’s cross-functional teams (Data Research & Reporting, Trading & Analytics, Asset Management, Capital Markets, Transaction Management, and Collateral Management) and to learn from the firm’s industry leading professionals. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, a self-starter, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to work under time sensitive deadlines.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Assist in month-end closing and financial reporting processes to achieve processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Analyze expenses and accruals and assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits.
  • Work in unison with Finance & Accounting team to improve financial processes.
  • Interface with fund administrator in accounting for fund-related activity.
  • Understand and ensure processes comply with internal controls and business processes, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Ad-hoc accounting research and application.
  • Intake, digestion, and manipulation of servicer provided cash flow reports.
  • Reconciliation of monthly loan balances and cashflows along with other critical loan attributes.
  • Coordinate and communicate with data providers to reconcile data in a timely manner.
  • Produce monthly cash flow reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build out exception reporting to identify data errors and review findings with more senior team members.
  • Assist with maintaining critical data in proprietary mortgage database in Microsoft SQL.
  • Running analyses using in house software tools.
  • Various ad hoc analysis to achieve goals of the Finance & Accounting and Business Intelligence Teams.



EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS:

 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting required, CPA or actively working towards qualification.
  • Required Experience: Recent or upcoming college graduate with accounting internship experience or 1+ years at a Public Accounting firm or equivalent (Internships and part time work recognized).
  • Must excel in a fast-paced, agile environment where critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills are required for success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Technical Experience: Strong Microsoft Excel skills with understanding of key functions and pivot tables, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, basic SQL skills a plus.
