OVERVIEW

Automox is seeking an expert data scientist and research leader to tackle a variety of challenging problems in computer security by applying their expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Our team is looking for experts in various research fields from computer science, statistics, and mathematics, as well as other engineering and data science fields.    


Although you don’t need a background in computer security to be successful here at Automox, it will most certainly help you get started. The right candidate will be self-motivated and possess an innate curiosity that allows them to apply new and novel ML techniques to massive amounts of data to solve the interesting security challenges we are tackling.   


THE FUN STUFF

  • Invent new and creative machine learning techniques to solve important problems in computer security

  • Stay abreast of the latest publications and state-of-the-art techniques in relevant research communities (e.g., ML and statistics)

  • Consult with other teams on applications of data science

  • Collaborate closely with internal product and engineering teams to help turn ML research prototypes into new products or features

  • Write code that scales to very large datasets, often with millions of dimensions

  • Publish papers and present research at conferences, including ML/AI/Stats conferences, as well as security conferences like Black Hat, DEFCON, and RSA

  • Collaborate with other data scientists on the team to help accomplish all of the above


SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:


  • Greatly enjoys the startup life and a desire to work in beautiful downtown Boulder, Colorado.

  • MS or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, or applied math

  • Five years minimum related experience with machine learning, computer science, and/or statistics

  • Deep understanding of how many common ML algorithms work and an ability to applying them to our problem space

  • Extensive deep learning expertise, theory, and experience training and evaluating neural networks

  • Expert knowledge of a scientific computing language such as R, Matlab or Python

  • Libraries such as sklearn, numpy, scipy, pytorch, and tensorflow

  • Various other languages, including Scala, C/C++, C#, Java, and x86 assembly

  • Various AWS services, like EC2 and S3

  • Strong written and oral skills (in English)
