Job Summary
This position will be part of a new center in the Boston area, developing products at the intersection of microbiome-based product development and Prolacta’s unique capabilities in human milk-based nutritional products. In collaboration with CROs, Prolacta R&D, clinical and CMC teams, and academic collaborators, this individual will support the development of datasets to enable new products and support extensions of existing product lines.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Identify, vet and manage CROs responsible for development of proof-of-concept and translational datasets
· Manage workflows associated with in vivo, in vitro and clinical samples, doing qPCR, next-generation sequencing, and metabolomics
· In collaboration with team members, develop in vitro and in vivo experimental datasets to support product development, regulatory filings, and product claims
· Provide expertise and support to Prolacta R&D, clinical, and CMC teams
· Design and support endpoints for clinical studies
· Supervise and mentor team members as needed
Job Requirements and Qualifications
· Minimum Ph.D. Degree in molecular biology, genomics, microbiology, or similar
· 5+ years post-Ph.D. of combined biotech or pharma experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and product development
· Deep subject matter expertise in molecular biology and metabolomics, proof of significant accomplishments in field
· Deep expertise in the microbiome
· Comfort using common DNA sequence analysis software
· Ability to build and execute 12-month experimental plans
· Ability to develop experimental pipelines
· Familiarity with sample-handling, extraction and processing requirements to generate high-quality genomics data
· Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, CROs and collaborators
· Experience preparing documents for regulatory submission
· Attentive to detail, analytical, and process-driven with ability to operate in a complex or matrixed work environment
· Ability to establish and meet deliverables and timelines
· Detail-oriented with critical thinking ability.
