As a Microbiologist, you will be an active member of Prolacta while responsible for designing and executing microbiology experiments to support product development at Prolacta, including testing of incoming raw materials, raw milk, in-process, final product, stability, environmental monitoring, and facility sampling for the Research and Development team. You will be a trusted partner, proactively anticipating business needs to be able to support our team, leaders, and the clients we support.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the investigation and evaluation of non-conformances related to laboratory testing (OOS, NCs, LIRs, SOPs, CAPAs) and other investigations as necessary. Good documentation and investigation skills required.
  • Understand and follow Quality System Documents relevant to responsibilities, testing, e.g. SOPs
  • Understand and follow the Quality System requirements established by Prolacta Bioscience
  • Participate in self-inspections and regulatory inspections
  • Support On-going continuous improvement projects
  • Complete other designated tasks, as necessary
  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.  Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects
  • Support data analysis and trending
Job Requirements and Qualifications

Requirements

·         M.S. degree with 5+ years of microbiology experience in an industry setting. Ph.D. Degree in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or similar is preferred

·         Expertise in execution of microbial identification, testing and validation techniques, including selection strategies, culture techniques and specifications as per USP methods

·         Demonstrated experience in independently designing, executing, and interpreting experiments and communicating experimental results

Qualifications

·         Experience in authoring and reviewing technical documents such as SOPs, protocols and reports Experience with aerobic/anaerobic microbiology techniques

·         Experience culturing and phenotypically characterizing diverse microbes

·         Strong communicator who can successfully collaborate with cross-functional team members and CROs on assay development and execution

·         Analytical and process driven with the ability to operate in a complex or matrixed work environment

·         Working knowledge of method validation according to ICH (International Conference of Harmonization) Q2(R1)

·         Experience working in a laboratory that performs testing within a regulated environment

·         Working Knowledge of food chemistry/microbiology, specifically milk testing, or infant formula testing preferred

·         Must be capable of working in an FDA regulated environment

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

·         Ability to enter and manage data within a LIMS system
