Prolacta Bioscience, headquartered in Duarte, California, is a life sciences company that provides specialty formulations of human milk for the nutritional needs of premature and critically ill infants.  Prolacta is committed to supporting research in the study of human milk and premature infant nutrition in order to make a difference in the lives of the most fragile premature babies. This Senior R&D Financial Analyst position reports to the Director of Finance, R&D and Corporate. We are looking for an outgoing person who wants to help our R&D function grow and mature. The right candidate must be incredibly organized and detail-oriented.   

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Collaborate with team members across the R&D function to provide both operational and strategic financial recommendations.

·         Invest time in understanding the intricacies of the science, clinical studies and clinical trials that govern the R&D organization. Translate that knowledge into financial conclusions.

·         Develop all R&D financial forecasting and budgeting.

·         Provide financial analysis support to the R&D function.

·         Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly internal reports.

·         Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports and financials models as needed.

·         Appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.

·         Assist in leading strategic, annual and short-term planning, cashflow, income and expense, balance sheet, overhead spending, and capital expenditures.

·         Month end close process data analysis and recording for expenses and accruals. Track R&D activity, reconcile general ledger accounts, subsequent analysis.

·         Budget capital, analyze expenditures, track projects.

·         Analyze strategic initiatives, new product lines, product lines, and new business opportunities.

·         Interprets cost trends and develops standards to use in product analysis.

·         Present focused financial information to senior management.

·         Lead continuous improvement activities.

·         Drive innovation and process improvements in the R&D finance function.

·         Assist in R&D project management and financial accounting software implementation.

·         Flexibility and desire to work on new and challenging/unfamiliar assignments in a high growth Company.

·         Willing to work overtime / beyond normal business hours as needed (exempt employees are not qualified for overtime pay)

 

Qualifications

 

·         Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or other Business-related degree is the minimum

·         5 years minimum related experience

·         Prior biotech/pharma experience with exposure to R&D function

·         CPA/MBA/FP&A Preferred

·         Expert in Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills

·         Effective Communication Skills (Written & Verbal)

·         Ability to succeed in a team environment

·         Customer Service Oriented

·         Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls

·         Strong research and analysis skills

·         Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
