Job Summary
Prolacta Bioscience is seeking a Laboratory Specialist III, fully competent to work as a top level contributor in one or more specialized functions. This role provides support in daily lab testing of incoming raw milk samples, in-process, finished product, and stability samples. This role is required to support and work closely with each of the QC systems, as they relate to the testing performed for Prolacta.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of business processes to accomplish laboratory testing and recording results
- Demonstrates full understanding of routine laboratory procedures
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of project/process flow within discipline
- Follows established procedures and guidelines to perform routine laboratory procedures to test the quality of incoming raw milk samples, stability samples, and finished goods
- Applies extensive technical expertise and has knowledge of other related business disciplines/processes
- Serves as a technical resource
- Works on complex projects with team members
· Applies knowledge of policies, practices, and underlying concepts to assignments
- Effectively completes assigned projects
- Completes laboratory testing on all samples in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
- Performs general microbiological, chemical, and biochemical testing
- Performs ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) testing
- Evaluates the physical characteristics of samples for acceptability
- Operates, maintains, and may troubleshoot advanced analysis equipment
- Performs environmental monitoring (gowning required)
- Maintains a safe and clean laboratory
- Disposes of hazardous/biohazardous wastes according to Prolacta established procedures
- Write and/or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- May provide leadership, guidance, and training to junior colleagues on a semi-regular basis
Job Requirements and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
· Minimum of 4-6 years hands-on experience in manufacturing, operations, or pilot lab/scale-up operations; experience in pharmaceutical scale-up activities, pharmaceutical validations, or extensive laboratory experience in protein chemistry highly desired

Work Environment (Location, Travel, Shift, On-Call, etc.)
· 4/10 work schedule
· This position is required to support testing at both the City of Industry and Duarte locations
· Up to 5% car travel between locations may be required
