Job Summary

 

Due to dynamic growth, we are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Medical Education Team.  The position, Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Neonatal and Pediatric Nutrition, has responsibility for developing and implementing programs to enhance the skills of Prolacta personnel with a goal of increasing productivity and positively impacting sales results. In addition, this position will interface with customers globally as a nutritional expert in the use of our products and may research potential causes for product complaints.   We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Dietitian to fill this position.  If you have the qualifications listed below, we encourage you to look into this opportunity.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

·       Health Care Professional (HCP) interaction and development

·       Developing relationships with various HCPs and providing them with credible, fair balanced, scientific information about Prolacta products

·       The MSL will develop strategies to develop selected HCPs as Key Opinion Leaders depending on their specific interests, enthusiasm for, or experience with our products.

·       The MSL will be a major source of balanced medical information for HCPs and will be capable of issues management and addressing questions about safety and usage of Prolacta’s products based on available scientific data.

·       With a field-based position, territory planning will be a key activity. This will be done in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, along with the commercial and marketing teams, and will involve identifying a focus of effort and the metrics for customer calls. The plan will have to be dynamic with respect to the specific brand (Humavant / SurgiFort), territory and the life cycle of the product line. That is, the focus of effort may vary from time to time and the territory plan will have to be flexible to accommodate for this.

·       The MSL will be expected to be an expert on his/her products and their therapeutic areas. This will involve regular and extensive reviews of the literature, developing presentations and assisting with publications and medical communications. Participation in scientific meetings will be essential, and the MSL will attend appropriate scientific congresses and conferences, in concert with other members of the Medical Affairs Division. This includes attending conferences to maintain certification.

·       Provide post meeting write-up on pertinent nutritional information for educational purposes.

·       Develop competitive intelligence on other products

·       Lead Prolacta Nutrition Advisory Committee

·       Organize and/or Lead Dietitian Led Webcasts

·       Provide lectures on published clinical data to customers globally and as requested

·       Support select customers globally with in-service training when requested

·       Provide training to Prolacta Sales Team, when requested by the Sales Training Department

·       Provide clinical information and slides to Speakers as requested

·       Train Speakers as needed

·       Co-travel with sales team members globally as needed

·       Provide ongoing education of recent publications with written summary as requested

·       Attend at least 3 trade shows

o   Assist with Booth Coverage when scheduled in advance

·       Act as liaison between Prolacta and customer when product complaints arise

·       Participate in regularly scheduled Prolacta initiated meetings (in person or remotely)

·       Provide clinical support to key accounts globally by traveling with CSS/KAM to high potential hospitals.

·       Work closely with marketing team members to ensure a thorough understanding of products in the marketplace

·       Assist Sales Training Department with training to support tactical implementation of marketing strategy

·       Assist in development of nutrition related materials in concert with Marketing and other management as needed

·       Work with Senior Management to develop nutritional product training strategy for new hires and continuing education for each individual department in concert with Sales Training Manager. 

·       Work with field trainers as needed to achieve departmental goals and objectives

·       Understand professional development resources available to sales team members and support development that increases their contributions to the organization’s success

·       Access resources to keep up-to-date on industry best demonstrated practices

·       Track and understand neonatal and pediatric nutrition practices globally – be able to adapt talks to local practices

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

 

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated excellence with presentation skills

·       Ability to teach, coach, and develop people in complex sales organization

·       Demonstrated ability to team and perform well in a matrixed environment

·       Strong project management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on time

·       Demonstrated results orientation and high productivity through setting high standards and achieving stretch goals

·       Willingness to travel internationally

·       Ability to adapt/accommodate cultural differences

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

·       Bachelor’s degree required with 5 or more years of professional experience

·       Clinical background in nutrition required (RN, RD, Rph, PharmD)

·       Author/Coauthor of Peer reviewed publications on human milk based fortification preferred

·       Successful healthcare industry training or marketing experience a plus
