Job Summary

 

As a Business Intelligence Engineer III you are responsible for defining and implementing the BI strategy and vision for Prolacta Bioscience.  This will include researching, developing and implementing data analysis projects including but not limited to data reporting, data visualizations, and ad-hoc research projects.  You will work closely with IT teams on planning, design, installation, configuration, automation and maintenance of said systems.  You will be responsible for ensuring that our data systems are engineered for greater accuracy, efficiency, flexibility and reuse.  You will work with all the different business functions to ensure that their future data needs are met with our current and future designs.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Work with IT leadership to define and drive the organization’s data warehousing strategy and vision

·         Design, implement and manage data models to support Data Warehouse and Data Mart layers

·         Design, implement and manage ETL processes at the organizational level

·         Design and implement data and reporting systems that allow a greater degree of ‘Self Service’ report creation

·         Analyze and verify efficiency, internal consistency, completeness and accuracy of data systems and making required adjustments

·         Analyze and interpret data trends

·         Defines training strategy

·         Provide leadership to the team for the assigned projects, applications, and services

·         Designs organization wide “views” and custom reports

·         Responsible for design direction

·         Work on multiple projects as needed

·         Works with end users to validate requirements; captures relevant data and reporting requirements

·         Develops enterprise reports in conjunction with developers, contractors, and business stakeholders

·         Prepares documentation including designs, technical requirements, test scripts, test results, data migration plans, implementation plans and procedures

·         Prototypes designs and user requirements using various tools such as Visio

·         Recommends establishment of new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information.

·         Explores, recommends and implements BI tools

·         Participates in and conducts team reviews throughout the life cycle of the project

·         Strongly adheres to Prolacta’s structured SDLC (software development life cycle) and validation processes

·         Manages the application maintenance ticket queue; troubleshoots performance issues and designs effective solutions

·         Effectively works with the IT team by improving processes, developing standards, and improving project documentation and procedures

·         Effectively works with a Scrum or Kanban team as designated

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Economics or related field

·         Eight or more years of experience required developing Enterprise scale Data Warehouse and Data Marts

·         Eight or more years of experience with SQL Server including stored procedures, triggers and scripts

·         Experience with SQL Server 2008/2014/2016 required

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

•   Proficient in Self Service BI

•   Proficient in Data Modeling (star, snowflake schemas)

•   Proficient in ETL

•   Proficient in BI reporting software such as Power BI Service/Desktop, Qlik, Tableau

•   Proficient in SQL Server 2008/2014/2016

·         Experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory and Power BI

•   Experience in MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL

•   Experience in Waterfall and Agile SDLC

•   Experience in FDA regulated, Biologic or Health Care companies desired
