Job summary

 

Join our growing company as a Database Administrator II, a pivotal position in our company. This role will manage and support mission critical SQL Server database platforms across the company.  Duties include all database administration and database design activities, and the ability to work in a project-based, team-oriented environment.  We will hire a self-starter with the ability to see projects through to completion while meeting vital deadlines.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL database instances

·         Manage access controls with appropriate roles and levels of security

·         Perform database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum performance and availability

·         Assist application development teams with planning and implementing databases for new applications, as well as planning, managing and implementing changes to databases in a controlled process

·         Assist application development teams with planning and implementing query / job optimization

·         Monitor and manage custom backup/restore and disaster recovery plans

·         Create and design databases using industry best practices

·         Document the database design, data flow and data dictionary for all production applications

·         Architect solutions to support business analytics through data warehousing, replication and ad- hoc reporting for business units, including writing scripts and triggers

·         Create, troubleshoot, debug, and manage SQL Server data migration jobs and stored procedures.

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

 

·         Bachelor’s degree required

·         3 – 5 years’ experience in the following areas required:

·         Hands-on SQL Server administration experience

·         Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008/2010

·         SQL programming and performance tuning experience

·         Data migration, data cleansing

·         Microsoft Excel 2007 or 2010 or Access data manipulation techniques

·         Management of SQL Server 2008 Instances in a Standalone and Clustered configuration

·         MS SQL replication and other high availability solution design and support

·         Database backup/restore and disaster recovery solution design and support

 

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

·         Knowledge of SQL Server component services (e.g. SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)

·         Knowledge of infrastructure architecture including servers, networks, SAN technologies

·         Strong analytical skills, detail oriented required

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills required

·         MS SQL certification preferred
