The role:

Jiobit, which develops the next generation of location-based wearables, is seeking an experienced mobile software engineer to help us scale the team.  The ideal candidate will have experience in either Android or iOS development, using Kotlin and Swift respectively, but also an interest in or experience with the opposite platform.  Our iOS and Android applications maintain feature parity and we prioritize iterating both at an equal pace.

This would be a great opportunity if you are actively engaged in development for one platform and have had a mind to learn the other too!

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the user-facing Jiobit iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) applications.

  • Design, document and implement application features in collaboration with the entire engineering team.

  • Collaborate across functional areas (platform, firmware, mobile, product and customer care) to define requirements for the new application features.

  • Deliver the highest quality app experience on time and improve existing codebase quality from release to release.

What you’ll need:

  • Solid knowledge of the general CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, etc.)

  • Proficiency with, or interest in, Swift and Objective-C languages and iOS SDKs and Kotlin and Java languages and Android SDKs.

  • Solid understanding of threads and concurrency.

  • Understanding concepts of mobile applications UI and UX design, following iOS or Google applications development guidelines.

  • Understanding the process of submitting applications to mobile app stores.

  • Familiarity working with RESTful APIs.

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, either AWS or GCP.

  • Experience with mobile application performance and memory tuning, detecting and optimization of battery-draining code, debugging and finding/resolving memory leaks.

  • Hands-on experience with unit-tests and iOS / Android UI testing automation frameworks (XCTest/XCUITest or Espresso).

  • Familiarity with BLE and Bluetooth APIs.

  • Authorized to work in the US (Citizen or Permanent Resident), no H1-B sponsorships
