As a Senior Database Developer, you would will independently under limited supervision and apply knowledge of subject matter in Application’s Database Design, Development and Maintenance. 

This position will fill a key role on the team to provide architecture and design guidance, development and ongoing support / maintenance of new functionality and capabilities.

You will need hands-on experience in architecting and designing enterprise Retail solutions in multiple domains, will be responsible for ongoing and new initiatives as well as the day-to-day operational / governance aspects. You will need strong communication skills to be able to collaborate with technical and non-technical partners, vendors, senior management stakeholders.

In this role, you will also:

  • Provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of an enterprise data architecture that effectively supports Business Intelligence capabilities. You must have extensive knowledge of database architectures.

  • Assist in designing, developing, and enhancing large transaction and reporting databases. SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.

  • Run profiling tools to identify slow or resource intensive SQLs and provide solutions.

  • Develop conceptual, logical & physical data model designs with appropriate structure and relationships for optimal performance.

  • Gather requirements and create architectural detail design documents and mapping documents.

  • Develop queries, PL/SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages, Database Triggers, Materialized Views based on the design documents for MS SQL Server.

  • Adhere to standards / best practices / guidelines to align to HRSOFT’s application and database architecture.

  • Mentor junior team members.

  • Coordinate with testers.

  • Understand the project scope, identifying activities, and dependencies risks and providing inputs.

  • Provide estimates and level of effort as required.

  • Collaborate with team leads and business analysts to provide support and contribution in preparing critical User Acceptance scenarios.

  • Manage, review, and remediate system vulnerabilities to meet our company’s and client’s IT/Security Compliance requirements.

  • Problem solve and troubleshoot design and development issues and provide appropriate solutions.

  • Contribute to production support.

  • Translate business requirements into software applications and models.

  • Create and troubleshoot stored procedures and query performances using SQL Server Profiler, Performance Monitor, DBCC Commands, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, and Execution plans. Recommend query and index improvements in application to increase performance.

  • Thoroughly test all approved application and database code additions and changes prior to implementing to staging. Request approval from users prior to implementing any additions or changes to the production environment.

  • Research, understand and apply best practices, cost-effective solutions, policies, and procedures toward all assigned tasks, roles, and responsibilities.

  • Participate in requirement analysis discussions and come up with an efficient technical solution.

  • Guide and share knowledge with other SQL developers when the need arises.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant work experience

  • 5 + years of demonstrated experience with relational database design and implementation using MS SQL Server

  • Demonstrated experience in Developing queries, PL/SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages, Database Triggers, Materialized Views based on the design documents for MS SQL Server.

  • Experience optimizing SQL queries for improving performance and maintaining data integrity

  • Experience in creating database migration scripts by using schema and data compare tools

  • Ability to understand and analyze business requirements and come up with an efficient technical solution

  • Technical understanding of infrastructure components, their dependencies, and interactions between servers, virtual systems, networks, databases, web applications, etc.
