Role Description
As a Senior Property Tax Consultant, you bring the experience, passion and expertise needed to realize significant savings for our clients. You keep high standards of accuracy, organization and enjoy meeting deadlines. You are professional, self-driven and can negotiate with confidence.
This role produces exacting data analysis during the property tax cycle. You have a keen eye for detail and a knack for identifying discrepancies and opportunities for savings.The Senior Property Tax Consultant can expect:
Determines taxability and identifies issues for a book of clients
Drives down taxable value through our unique approach to valuation and negotiation
Completes independent data analysis to define appeal determination.
Provides accurate analysis and timely filing of renditions, notices, appeals, and bills
Communicates with taxing authorities and builds relationships with tax assessors
Communicates with clients and others outside the organization to obtain information and other valuation-based documentation
Reviews and approves tax bills; prepare Tax Savings Reports for clients
Displays thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies; strong root cause corrective action skills, including the facilitation, coaching of teams, and reviewing outputs
Partners with Senior Leadership to act as trainer/coach/mentor to consultants in all aspects of the property tax lifecycle to strengthen the quality of understanding and ownership, thereby reducing risk to the organization
Effectively implements processes and systems, including client journey, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for property tax
Applies experience and a natural curiosity in reviewing, measuring, and improving results for the organization
Effectively assists with any elevated level of appeals as necessary. Maintains relationships and facilitates communication with outside counsel and is involved with litigation preparation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a similar field preferred
5+ years of previous relevant personal property experience
Critical thinking skills and an eye for detail
Ability to consolidate and analyze large and complex data sets
Ability to prioritize recurring statutory deadlines to ensure timely submissions at the local jurisdictions nationwide
Strong communication and presentation skills
Possess a complete understanding of valuation of property
Work well independently as well as part of a team
Able to build strong internal and external working relationships
A keen manager of your time and prioritizing tasks effectively
The ability to travel as required to attend appeal hearings, property inspections, and client meetings
