Tara Performing Arts High School is looking for a Spanish teacher for our motivated students who have elected Spanish as their world language in high school. Excellent fluency and Spanish language articulation are essential, as we recognize that students learn much from hearing the language spoken well and spoken beautifully. Tara's primary teaching method is immersive, for we believe that language immersion is the best way to learn a language, even though the process can be challenging. During an hour-long class, a teacher should spend no more than approximately ten minutes with students speaking English, for example to explain a grammatical concept, and the balance of the class is to be taught in Spanish. A large part of teaching the language is also sharing Spanish or Latin culture including poetry, music, food preparation, festivals, traditions, and reading simple Spanish literature. The goal of language learning at Tara is for students to be able to read and speak the language, preparing students to navigate and speak with locals when traveling in Spanish speaking countries, and to be excited to make human connections through spoken language. Classes at Tara Performing Arts High School are small (1-10 students) and our students are eager learners. They are respectful, kind and will be grateful to have a great teacher.
