Qualifications & Essential Functions of a R2i Teacher:
- Must be an adult with a disability or an Adult who demonstrates personal knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy and is currently living an independent, productive life.
- Effective listening and communication skills.
- Analytical skill for effective problem solving.
- Ability to meet with people at various locations outside the office including any location inside A2i Coverage Area.
- Ability to complete required documentation.
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Job Expectations
- Provides in-depth instruction of identified Life Skills with in the road 2 Independence Curriculum to youth with a disability.
- Promotes empowerment through individual advocacy efforts. Shares life experiences and offers encouragement, serves as a role model.
- Listens and facilitates self-assessment by the consumer which results in an action independent living plan. Assist with the development of a peer centered and directed circle of support as requested.
- Interviews peers seeking information relating to independent living and provides information as able. Seeks assistance from the director as needed.
- Completes all documentation required and submits to the director as requested.
- Documents and upload information daily in regard to each student’s progress
- Communicates with consumers, director, staff, Board and community in a respectful manner.
- Attends all R2i supporter team meetings and trainings.
- Ability to Modify the curriculum to ensure that the information is presented in a manner that the students comprehend
- Format innovative teaching techniques and aids that engage student’s participation while conveying the material presented
- Format additional lessons that add to the life skills presented with in R2i Modify and edit current lesson to allow for students in age range 14-16 to adapt to
